What Can I Expect?
After our initial phone conversation, an assessment session (about 90 minutes) will be booked. You can expect to come away from this first session with some ideas about how we will work together to move forward.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
The number and frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors, and is difficult to estimate, but this is something we would talk about at the first meeting.
How Long Will I Have to Wait?
I will usually be able to see you within one or two weeks.
How Confidential Is My Information?
Your information and details of your sessions are confidential. I am the only person you will have contact with at my practice; I keep records of our sessions secure. I do have regular meeting with my professional supervisor; however, identifying information is not discussed.
Limits to confidentiality can occur if you are at risk of physically hurting yourself or someone else; in this case, in order to protect you, it may be necessary to disclose information. Except under exceptional circumstances, however, this would occur with your collaboration.
Of course, it may be that you choose to have your information shared with others, in the form of letters or reports to other professionals eg. GP. psychiatrist, or perhaps sharing important information with family members. This is under your control.
